When fifth-grader Kane Swift had to do a science project, he decided to help raise funds for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure campaign.
So he set up a Facebook fan page with the help of his parents. In just one week, he got more than 1,200 fans and raised $400!
“I can understand using Facebook for a fifth-grade science project,” You might ask. “But how do I use Facebook to market my business? I keep hearing that I should include social media in my marketing campaigns, but I don’t have a clue how to do that.”
The great thing about Facebook Pages is that every time someone becomes a fan of your page all of their friends see that they have become a "fan." This often attracts other followers as well as creates a buzz regarding your business and of course your Facebook Page.
You can use your Facebook Page to not only share your company information, but you can also use it to post photos, videos, applications and messages. Any activity that you perform on your Facebook Page is then broadcast into the mini-feeds of your followers. Of course, without actual fans, a Facebook business page isn’t that useful; attracting fans in Facebook is not very difficult, one good approach you might want to try is to buy Facebook fans, that way you can focus on other things in your page like content quality and frequency, page design...etc.
There are many good ways to keep potential fans liking your page; you can use various methods like embed widgets on your website or blog, to make sure you are noticed. Also you take a more serious approach like advertising your page on Facebook. Even with a nominal weekly/monthly budget, you should be able to boost your fan count using Facebook’s own social ad feature. It’s the most targeted traffic your money can buy. To buy an ad, scroll down to any page inside Facebook and click the link at the very bottom that says “Advertising.” From there, you can walk through the wizard and get an excellent sense of how many Facebook users are in your exact target market. When you advertise your fan page, Facebook users can become a fan right from the ad simply by clicking the ‘like’ button on the ad. Additionally, Facebook displays several of your friends who have already liked you, thus creating social proof which you will need to build a good image of your brand.
